I am sorry to report that, after 30 years, the Long Island Antique Tool Collectors Association has been disbanded...
... however, many of the former members are continuing to gather for informal tool swap meets. These gatherings are organized by former LIATCA vice president Jamie Swan.
The tool swap meets are 6:00 - 8:00pm on the fourth Wednesdays of the even numbered months, at the Frank Brush Barn on the grounds of the Smithtown Historical Society located on the North side of Middle Country Road (AKA Rt 25 - AKA Jericho Turnpike) just East of Rt 111.
All are welcome to attend; to socialize, and to buy and/or sell tools and related materials.
There is a suggested $5 donation to cover the rent on the Brush Barn. All excess funds that might be collected are donated to the Smithtown Historical Society.
This is not a club, and it is not a business. It is an informal gathering of people who share an interest in tools, trades and the mechanical arts.
I have set up a Google Group under the name "LI Tool Swap" to send out reminders for these gatherings, and also as a channel of communication for people with this common interest.
The LI Tool Swap Google Group is a consolidation of the LIATCA email list, as well as the Long Island Metal Workers Society email list.
If you would like to be added to the LI Tool Swap Google Group just send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
